The Christmas Spirit in Laredo - Upbring

0

Laredo’s Upbring Foster In Texas (FIT) office held their always-spectacular Christmas party for foster children and foster families last week. The Montecarlo Reception Hall sparkled, the children and families were treated to a three-course meal and the event was a HUGE success – thanks to the Lamar Bruni Vergara Grant and our Upbring elves and staff!

Each child received several gifts made possible by the generosity of the Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust Fund and the purchase and delivery by the following FIT staff: Fabiola Erhard, FSW, Dora Solis, FSW, Guadalupe Martinez and Esther Leija, Administrative Assistant.

The hall was beautifully decorated with a white and gold Christmas theme and guests were greeted by a life-size Santa Claus in the main lobby. Volunteers kept the kids busy decorating cookies, and The Munequitas (little dolls), provided delightful entertainment consisting of games, songs, balloon animals and contests for the kids.

For the sixth year, Roger Averitt made an awesome Santa Claus and all the kids were thrilled to see him. Thank you so much, Roger!

Oscar Guerra, Upbring FIT Area Director, presented foster families with gifts of appreciation – cookie canisters, Upbring Christmas cards and angel Christmas ornaments – for their loyalty and commitment to our therapeutic foster care program. Everyone said they had a great time … and this party is something they look forward to all year long!
