A Message from Sonya Thompson, Senior Vice President of Child and Family Services
Aristotle once said, “Excellence is an art won by training and habituation.”
At Lutheran Social Services we pride ourselves in working through excellence each and every day. As noted by Aristotle, one way to achieve excellence is through training. Our training department is working hard each and every day to deliver opportunities for excellence to both staff and each of you – often through our WebEx program directly into your home! We have heard from many of you that our different opportunities for training has not only peaked your interest, but also your participation.
Here is some data for you: during the first quarter 2010, LSS offered 88.5 hours of training, with 484 attendees – We also had 264 participants for medication administration, offered in both English and Spanish – WOW!
Thanks to Caitlin Harris’ incredible creativity we have also been able to offer book clubs in English and Spanish, Monday morning meeting training for our staff and numerous other trainings such as this newsletter training! Our commitment is to continue to strive to meet the ever growing demands of our children, families and those entities to which we are accountable contractually. We look forward to what lies ahead in 2010 – Watch out!
With sincerest admiration; Sonya Thompson
