The 27th annual Upbring Golf Houston, held at the BlackHorse Golf Club in Cypress, raised more than $95,000 for the residents at Upbring Krause Children’s Center in Katy. More than 100 golfers and 20 volunteers were in attendance, including four players who have participated in every tournament since its inception! Their continued dedication was a perfect example of how loyal Upbring’s generous donors have been throughout the years. The event also marked the 10th year of BP America’s support.
The highlight of the day was when Jason Drake, Executive Director at Krause, introduced five of the young women staying at the treatment center. These courageous Krause “Warriors” shared their stories and what they had endured and overcome before entering Krause. Many attendees were moved to tears by their histories, but inspired by the renewed sense of hope that Krause has given them.
With severe storms all across Texas and the Houston area, the course was almost flooded out and the fate of the event was in limbo. With faith, however, anything is possible, and the sun came out just in time for the tournament.
