Upbring International Adoption Earns Hague Reaccreditation

2

If your family moved when you were a child, you probably remember the anxiousness associated with changing schools and meeting new friends. Imagine tackling all of that while also learning a new language and culture.

That is the reality for children served by Upbring International Adoption. We work hard to smooth the transition for these brave children and their forever, loving families. In fact, we recently earned
Hague reaccreditation through the Council on Accreditation (COA).

The COA, which is the only national accrediting entity authorized by the U.S. Department of State to provide Hague Accreditation and Approval, accredits approximately 200 adoption service providers around the country.

“Hague accreditation is the gold standard for international adoption service providers,” Erin Patterson, Upbring Director of Adoption, said. “When families are looking to adopt a child from another country, they often start by partnering with a Hague-accredited provider like Upbring.”

The four-year reaccreditation affirms that international adoption meets the Hague’s standards for financial and risk management, ethical practices and responsibilities, employee training, and service planning and delivery. Most importantly, Hague reaccreditation reflects the positive outcomes experienced by the children and families we serve.

“A positive outcome means that the child becomes a permanent part of their new family,” Erin said. “Positive outcomes happen when we connect the child with a loving family that helps them transition and assimilate.”

Language and cultural barriers make assimilation difficult for many children adopted by American families. That’s why Upbring social workers need to understand more than each country’s unique adoption procedures. They also help each family ensure that their child maintains his or her cultural identity while adjusting to their new surroundings.

Adoption is a life-changing decision and a lifelong commitment for everyone involved, including Upbring. Whether you choose a domestic or international adoption, we provide long-term support for your family.
