“Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much.”
As Dr. Lambert Collins and his wife Lorrie were establishing Katy Lifestyle Chiropractic in 2008, they wrote a mission statement they called “The Miracle Year of Wellness.” The mission is aimed at improving the health and well-being of 10,000 individuals in the community through natural health solutions, patient education and charitable efforts.
Searching for the perfect charitable organization to support, they dreamed of one that uplifted children in need.
With that in mind, partnering with Upbring’s Krause Children’s Center made perfect sense.
“We have two children who are grown and thriving,” Lorrie said. “We wanted the same for other children in our community. So, our relationship with Krause Children’s Center was a marriage made in heaven.”
Over the past decade, Lambert and Lorrie have found creative ways to support Krause’s life-giving services.
When a patient donates $40 to Krause, Katy Lifestyle Chiropractic gives them more than $300 worth of free chiropractic in exchange.
The patient also gets their name on an Upbring Krause Children’s Center paper shield displayed in the office as a reminder of the importance of supporting the girls on their healing journeys. Symbolically, the patient and a Krause girl are on a healing journey together.
In addition to their generous gifts, the Katy Lifestyle team looks for creative ways to directly involve their patients in helping Krause Children’s Center. Examples of what they have done in the past include:
- Collecting prom dresses from patients to give the girls a prom experience
- Gathering 60 pumpkins from patients for the girls to decorate on Halloween and Thanksgiving
- Donating lockers for the girls to store personal items in
- Collecting donations to buy each girl new shoes at Christmastime
- Delivering clean, empty milk cartons so the girls could convert them into gingerbread houses for Christmas
- Pampering the girls and painting their nails
“It’s important to us that our patients feel like they share in the partnership of supporting the Krause girls,” Lorrie said.
Angela Esghouei, Practice Representative, also contributes her time and talent as a mentor to one of the girls. She knows that small acts of kindness go a long way toward healing hearts and spirits at Krause.
“Like every child, these girls need connections with adults who care about them and want to celebrate with them. Simply wishing them happy birthday or asking if you can do anything for them, it means the world to them,” Angela said.
And Katy Lifestyle Chiropractic’s generous support of Krause means the world to us. We look forward to another 10 years of a marriage made in heaven!
The girls at Krause Children’s Center created this beautiful artwork in appreciation of the many ways the Katy Lifestyle Chiropractic team makes their lives brighter. The painting includes 60 hands, one from each Krause girl. The quote is from Helen Keller: “Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much.” Upbring Philanthropic Advisor Diane Covert (far left) delivered the art, which will be displayed in the children’s rooms at Katy Lifestyle Chiropractic.
