Nothing beats a story with a happy ending, and we have just that, with an update on the Bontilao family of Fort Bliss/El Paso, Texas. A few months ago we told the story of Chief Warrant Officer 3 Alberto Bontilao and his wife Mylynne, who added to their family of three children with the adoption of four nieces and nephews from the Philippines.
The mother of the children (now ages 6 through 17) died in an auto accident in 2007, and Alberto and Mylynne worked through piles of red tape and hours of paperwork for two years, with LSS and Holt International Children’s Services, finalizing the adoption of Delyn, Varaquelli, Faith, and Domenique on October 29, 2010. Alberto was deployed overseas during much of this process.
Fast forward to July 27, 2011, when the four “new kids” officially became citizens of the United States. They are pictured here receiving their Citizenship Certificates. Congratulations and best wishes to this outstanding family!
