In the Lubbock area, many who suffer financial hardship along with the heat, are helped with utility vouchers distributed by the LSS ministry Neighborhood House. LSS manages and staffs the emergency assistance program, which also provides food vouchers, hygiene products, prescriptions, diapers, and baby formula to the handicapped and elderly, and families with children. Area congregations also work through Neighborhood House to distribute sack lunches to the area’s homeless. More than 6,500 families receive help from Neighborhood House each year!
This story, about Neighborhood House and its director Joy Loper, was recently published in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal: Help offered to pay off energy bills.
EverythingLubbock.com posted another reminder to the community that as water bills skyrocket during the summer months, Neighborhood House can also help keep your water flowing: http://everythinglubbock.com/fulltext/?nxd_id=55695.
