Line up a Texas tree, chocolate tree, Aggie tree, luau tree, veterans tree, snowman tree, Santa tree, and a Chik-Fil-A cow tree, and you get an idea of just some of the creativity that sparkled at The Village at Gleannloch Farms (VGF) this holiday season.
The first-ever, first annual “Parade of Trees” showcased 34 trees that lined the lobby and halls, and were auctioned off to the highest bidder. Spirited bidding began on December 4th and commenced at the VGF Christmas party on December 14th, with more than 200 in attendance. The tree auction was a spectacular success, raising a whopping $5,700 for two local charities: the TOMAGWA HealthCare Ministries and our own Krause Children’s Center.
The decorated trees were donated by area businesses and schools, and according to Kathy Johanns, executive director of VGF, they intend to make this an annual holiday tradition. “It’s a wonderful way to bring people in the community together to give back,” she said. Residents, staff, and winning bidders are all still aglow with The Village at Gleannloch Farms holiday spirit!
