With slack-key guitar music in the background and a profusion of flowers and leis setting the stage, the Independent Living residents of The Village at Gleannloch Farms in Spring, were transported to Hawaii at an evening Luau Party, held outside around the VGF putting green on August 29th.
Between the tropical luau setting and aloha wear attire, photo ops were plentiful. The menu included Hawaiian drinks, boiled shrimp, pupu platters, and a full Hawaiian dinner served family style. Ono! Tiki torches lit the sky as music was provided by the Drums of the Pacific, who in addition to their band, put on a show with Tahitian dancers, and even a fire twirler. Our residents got a hula lesson, when the dancers brought the wahines and kanes up to dance. Everyone had a fantastic time!
But this group never stops and the celebrations continue! Independent Living residents just returned from a five-day cruise to Cozumel in September and now are getting their lederhosen ready for the Oktoberfest celebration on October 2nd. Oh to be retired!
