Krause Children’s Center, LSS’ residential treatment center in Katy, combines intensive therapy in a safe and stable environment, with top-notch, on-site education to help young women, ages 12-17, overcome histories of trauma and abuse.
Krause also creates lasting memories, spiritual growth, and creative inspiration these young women can take with them when they leave. That “something extra” is provided by the volunteers who regularly visit Krause to share their time and talents. Many groups come month after month, year after year. For example …
BP has supported the Krause girls in many ways, including the legendary BP work days for the past nine years. BP employees bring tools, all supplies, and major manpower to take on enormous projects and extensive landscaping overhauls. Some days, there can be 80 to 100 BP’ers laboring throughout the Krause campus on five or six projects simultaneously.
Additionally, BP has been Krause’s title sponsor for the “Tomorrow’s Child” Krause Golf Tournament for seven years. Thank you BP America – the Krause kids and staff appreciate all you do for us!
Caring Critters’ volunteers have paid Krause “pet visits” twice a month since 1997, bringing friendly dogs and adorable miniature horses for the girls to interact with. The pets come dressed up if there is a holiday, so we are looking forward to a Halloween visit. Caring Critters has enhanced the lives of those living at Krause, giving the girls a chance to interact and snuggle with the pets for some soft and furry, unconditional love. The girls also receive pictures of the pets to take with them when they leave.
The Chicktime Chicks come once a month to lead activities like Zumba and arts and crafts. September brought an indoor carnival, which included booths for everything from a cotton candy machine to face painting. Whatever Chicktime brings, it always means a fun day for the Krause girls.
Mother/Daughter NCL groups visit the Krause girls regularly, to have some fun nail painting, creating arts and crafts projects, and make blankets for Project Linus. Sometimes they even tidy up the Point Store!
These organizations are just a small sample of the volunteer energy at Krause. In addition, numerous congregations and youth groups help by bringing summer camp activities, Vacation Bible Schools, art and music classes, and donations of quilts and school supplies. The Healing Hearts Gala is always a big success because of all the caring people on the committees and in the community who come out to support Krause.
When you combine all the hours of work from our volunteers … the result is a powerful impact on our Krause community!
