Fair season is in full swing in Texas and our girls at New Life Children’s Center in Canyon Lake recently took part in two of them: the Comal County Fair in New Braunfels and the Guadalupe County Fair in Seguin. These outings mean more to our girls than just the traditional lineup of food and festivities – fair contest entries are a great way to discover and showcase talents, build self-esteem and become involved in the local communities.
This year, our New Life residents entered paintings, drawings, crocheted blankets, eggs and chickens in the Comal County Fair – the largest fair in Central Texas. Many took home ribbons and one young lady won a tri-color ribbon for her crocheted red “granny square” afghan.
During the Guadalupe County Fair, held Oct. 9 – 12, our girls entered crocheted blankets, beanies and trivets. One young lady celebrated a BIG win after receiving a Grand Champion ribbon for her multi-colored blanket.
This was truly a fair to remember!
