krause open house diane[story by Diane Covert, LSS Associate Vice President for Development] Open House night for Krause Children’s Center and Trinity Charter School (TCS) was a great way to celebrate our volunteers and generous supporters, while showing off the accomplishments of the talented residents. Krause student ambassadors, teachers and staff gave tours of the school and shared many of the girls’ achievements and some wonderful art. Donors and volunteers make a significant difference in the Krause residents’ healing and educational development, and the open house provided an up-close opportunity to see actual results.krause open house gallery2 krause open house gallery A Krause Chicktime volunteer said, “Thank you for sharing with us the lives of these wonderful girls and the generous teachers and professionals at the Krause Center.”

Babs Kruse, a Lutheran Social Services board member, said she was “blown away by the students,” and enjoyed sitting down and talking with some of them. One had been in four different centers and another had been in five. They told their visitor that Krause was the safest and most comforting center they had attended. Ms. Kruse met one girl with a great personality and strong voice who seemed destined for a broadcasting career, and another with a dream to attend Julliard. “When I left the open house, I got in my car not feeling like a board member, but like a proud parent,” Babs Kruse said.  “I’m still getting goose bumps thinking about the strong young women being empowered at Krause. The staff need to know what a great job they are doing, getting these students this excited and confident. My hats off to all of them!” krause open house tcs
