When it’s rodeo time in Houston, that’s a cue for The Village at Gleannloch Farms (VGF) in Spring to throw their own western-themed party for their independent living residents.
The activity team at VGF cowboyed-up the multi-purpose room with red bandana print, tin plates for dinner service, old western movies and great entertainment. Guests were also encouraged to “dress Texan” for the occasion by dusting off their boots, donning their best jeans and throwing on their Stetson hats.
VGF chefs grilled delicious steaks and chicken outdoors along with fresh corn on the cob. Family-style service to each table included Texas caviar, fried okra salad, steak fries, cornbread and Blue Bell ice cream in waffle cones for dessert.
After dinner, residents went on a hayride around the community while local country singer Bill Parish serenaded on his guitar. A few hay riders tried to yodel along with Bill – with mixed results, according to some reports.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch – it was time for boot scootin’ and line dancin’. The dance floor remained full with VGF residents waltzing and two-stepping the night away.
