FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Last year LSS helped nearly 200 children become adopted from foster care
AUSTIN, Texas – Nov. 3, 2014 – November is National Adoption Month, an effort with roots that date back to 1976. This month-long focus on the need for adoptive and foster families begins with a Presidential Proclamation, and is celebrated across the country as thousands of community organizations draw attention to the issue of adoption. Today Lutheran Social Services of the South (LSS), with its own history of more than 8,000 adoptive placements since 1945, adds its voice to the chorus through its various adoption services – domestic and international adoption, as well as unplanned pregnancy and foster-to-adopt.
“We are passionate about helping create new families through foster and adoption services,” said Dr. Kurt Senske, CEO of LSS. “We are blessed with the opportunity to be involved in the process of changing parents’ and children’s lives forever.”
Through its program Lutheran Adoption Services of Texas, LSS provides the following services across the state:
- Domestic Adoption
- International Adoption
- Unplanned Pregnancy Services (for pregnant mothers considering placing their child up for adoption with a family)
- Foster In Texas, a program that offers foster-to-adopt services
LSS also provides search and reunion services and can initiate a search for any member of an adoption triad who was party to an adoption facilitated by the agency. This may be an adult adoptee searching for a birth parent, a birth parent searching for an adult adoptee, or an adoptive family searching for a birth parent. If the search is successful and both parties wish to meet, LSS will facilitate contact, which usually starts with a letter or phone call.
Texans who are interested in adoption can visit LSS Children’s Services for more information.
