Children all over the world are waiting for forever homes and international adoption can be a wonderful way to build your family. We at Upbring welcome the opportunity to guide you through the international adoption process to make an orphaned child a permanent member of your family.
International adoption through Upbring can take one of two paths:
- Families in Texas: As a licensed homestudy agency, Upbring works with accredited adoption agencies to assist in the international adoption process. Upbring provides direct services to Texas families that are required by the international adoption process. These include homestudy services, pre-adoption training, liaison work with partner agencies and USCIS, and post placement services, as required by the overseas governments. In this role, Upbring has helped to facilitate adoption from more than 15 countries.
- Families across the U.S.: Upbring also acts as a primary provider, facilitating adoptions from Bulgaria. We have partnered with a non-governmental organization in Bulgaria called New Beginning Association that is accredited by the Bulgarian government through the Ministry of Justice to assist in intercountry adoption. Together, we have worked to build an international adoption program that is stable, transparent and focused on the well-being of these children and their forever families.
According to UNICEF, there are an estimated 153 million orphaned children living in the world today. These children need and deserve the permanency of a loving family, which may not be available in their country of origin. Typically, these children are:
- Toddlers or school age
- Either Gender
- Sibling Groups
- Children with a wide range of medical and/or psychological issues
- Children with developmental delays related to institutionalization
How Are Children and Families Matched?
In international adoption, the matching process between family and child is called a ‘referral.’ The referral process is entirely country-specific, varying according to the requirements and process of each county. If you have questions about a specific country, please contact us and we will be happy to talk with you.
Timeline for International Adoption
The timeline for international adoption varies according to the country, as it is impacted by governmental change, political issues, and social and natural events. The timeline is also affected by the type of child you hope to adopt. For example, families adopting children with special needs generally move through the adoption process more quickly. If you need information about a specific country’s timeline, please contact us – we will be delighted to help you!
