Dylan is a three-year-old boy. He was abandoned in 2015 at a hospital and was placed in an orphanage in Eastern Europe. From six-months-old until now, he has been raised by a foster family.Dylan has experienced delays in his neuro-psychological development. He was diagnosed with ataxic cerebral palsy and congenital heart malformation – atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect and mild heart failure. Now that Dylan is three, heart surgery could be scheduled.
Dylan is a calm and pleasant child. He is well attached to his caregivers and responds well to them. Dylan expresses his joy by erratically clapping his hands and by making noises. When he is at face-level with one of his caregivers, he laughs and gently slaps the person’s face with his hand to express his joy.
Dylan began to walk at the age of one year and five months. Currently, he is walking, running and climbing stairs unaided. Dylan is showing progress in his development. In the last 10 months, he has begun to look at the person who is talking to him, understand what he is told and carry out simple orders.
