Our Work Never Stops

upbring employees

You have stepped forward to help vulnerable children overcome abuse and neglect—and your unwavering generosity ensures that Upbring will continue to be here for these innocent boys and girls, no matter what…even in the face of COVID-19.

We are especially sensitive to the fact that our children have already experienced tremendous trauma, grief and uncertainty, so our COVID-19 response has been swift and deliberate. Those of us who work within child welfare are a different kind of first responder and we would like you to know how our Upbring frontline warriors are responding. Here on the forgotten frontline:

  • Upbring staff is quickly adapting to new childcare guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus and safeguard the children and families in our care
  • Our teachers are embracing innovative ways to educate our children by creating alternative forms of at-home learning through virtual classrooms
  • Social workers and counselors are logging extra hours to ensure the safety of our children
  • We are helping children in our care experience as much normalcy as possible through engaging recreational activities such as Snow Cone Day, Movie Night and dance parties
  • Upbring Foster In Texas has placed more than 80 children in loving homes since Governor Abbott’s initial executive order on March 19 and continues to work with families throughout the state of Texas

What impact will your gift make?

  • Equip our residential facilities with critical medical and disinfecting supplies, including masks, alcohol swabs, gloves, rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, disinfectant hand soap, thermometer sleeves, disinfectant wipes and disinfectant spray.
  • Provide food and critical medications to our foster families and low-income families served through our early education programs who are facing dire financial hardship due to lost jobs.
  • Support the work of our frontline social workers, counselors and staff who are working longer hours to ensure the safety of our children.

Tragically, the need doesn’t stop, not even in a pandemic. The state of Texas reported more than 67,000 cases of child abuse last year, and the number of children who need our help rises daily. Our ability to respond during this time is only made possible because of generous friends like you.

Upbring is the leading Texas-based nonprofit working to break the cycle of child abuse.
