Upbring recognizes that successful advocacy for change is a team sport, and works through advocacy alliances to support policies that will bring about enhanced long-term outcomes for Texas children.
Upbring is the only organization in Texas in the leadership of the two most influential associations on child welfare at the Texas Capitol.
- As participants in the Child Protection Roundtable, Upbring has joined with the state’s leading advocates for child well-being, including TexProtects, Texans Care for Children, Texas CASA, the National Association of Social Workers – Texas Chapter and the Texas Pediatric Society, among others, in placing long-term outcomes for children and youth first in our advocacy. Knox Kimberly of Upbring serves as Chair of the Steering Committee of the Roundtable.
- Additionally, as participants in the Texas Alliance for Child and Family Services, Upbring works alongside other leading child placing agencies in Texas to maximize our voice and our impact on issues of concern to the ability of the system to best serve children, youth and families, including the critical issues of capacity building and community-based service delivery models. Upbring’s President, Michael Loo, serves on the Board of Directors of the Alliance.
Upbring believes that the children of Texas transcend politics. We will continue working in the years ahead to promote policies that will make a lasting, positive difference in their lives, and look forward to fully reporting on the outcomes of the 2019 legislative session following adjournment of the session on May 27.
