Rick

Mild mental delay
Learning issues

Rick is a very sweet, gentle, careful, attentive, responsive, compassionate and sociable 13-year-old boy.  He is currently living in a Group Home in Eastern Europe.

Rick was found abandoned in a ditch before he was even a year old. He was placed was under police protection and taken to an orphanage.

Today Rick does not differ from his peers in any way – he plays with them and participates in chores and activities at the institution. He has had a difficult time learning how to study because he had to cope, unaided, without encouragement before coming to the Group Home. But now Rick is making significant progress! In the beginning of his placement at the institution (at the age of 7) he was not able to hold a pen properly, and now writing is among his favorite activities (he has a nice handwriting!).

Rick has no problems with his everyday routine – he is absolutely independent, manages with all tasks and is very obedient.

He has many friends and always tries to help others when needed. Rick has some special sense for dignity and the caregivers shared that he never asks for anything, he never cries or nags others. He feels sincere joy even for the smallest gifts he receives.

His dream is to become a police officer and drive a police car.

Rick is a gentle and sensitive child with great desire and hope to have his own family. He is one of those radiant children who shine with warmth and smiles.
