A variety of volunteer groups and mentors give their time to the girls at New Life throughout the year. If you’d like to volunteer in any of the areas listed below, please contact Lisa Brown to request the required volunteer packet. This packet must be completed and returned ahead of time.

Chicktime – Come with a group of gals and host different activities for the girls. Chicktime has included an etiquette class, yoga, crocheting, a basketball clinic, arts and crafts, a carnival, writing thank you notes to soldiers, packing beans and rice for a food bank, taking glamour shots and more. Chicktime is held the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Women are welcome to bring their daughters as long as they are at least 12 years old.

Mentor/Surrogate – We need volunteer mentors or “surrogate parents” to support the girls without an ongoing parent relationship. The time commitment is very flexible. You would provide encouragement and mentoring, as well as advocate for the child in special education training meetings. Surrogates serve at the Trinity Charter School on the New Life campus.

Master Gardeners – The Comal County Master Gardeners come to New Life on the 3rd Monday of each month to plant flowers, dig up weeds and cultivate our gorgeous butterfly garden. It is wonderful!

Point Store – Every other week, the girls get to go shopping with points they earned by demonstrating responsibility and good behavior. This fun and positive program allows the girls to shop for things like stuffed animals, aromatic shampoos and delicious snacks. You can help by manning the Point Store. It is open every Wednesday from 3:30-5:00 p.m.

Sharing Hands – The Point Store gets a new theme each month. You can join the group of women who come and create each new theme. They decorate, restock and spruce up the store. The date varies but it is usually on a Tuesday around 10 a.m.

Jayne’s Salon – New Life has an on-campus salon to keep the girls looking and feeling great. If you are a licensed stylist and own a pair of scissors, we would love for you to volunteer. The salon is fully stocked and the hours are flexible.

Spiritual Care Volunteers – The spiritual health of the girls at New Life is very important. Our Spiritual Care Director needs spiritual mentors and volunteers to help lead chapel services on Mondays from 4-5 p.m.

No paperwork is needed for the following:

Donation Divas – Come for fun as we sort items and lovingly prepare them for the girls on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 9:00-11:00. Groups of all ages welcome!
